No, but the itch page, with screenshots and art from the build was.

Here's a link to an old build. The files in the zip should be dated to the 7th of December. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1coJR2s6fYtlZNWGiHtfyWsa_b9eiZQh_/view?usp=shari...

So the itch page was public but we don't think it had a build published, hence why its only really some art and parts of your premise that match up. Not suggesting you would have, but it wouldn't have been possible to replicate any gameplay at the time anyway. We can prove we were working on the project in October, and we can show some striking similarities, but unless itch has the page creation date hidden away anywhere then that's about it.

I'm also not accusing you specifically, unless you're the only dev. Things like this can go under the radar and not everyone is aware of it. That's why I've brought it up in the first place, I wanted to be honest about it and make sure you all were aware, but I'm not here to blame or cause any issues. Its heavy inspiration at most, nothing has been stolen or anything, so no harm done.

This menu screen, or something similar, would have been on the page at the time, as well as a description about an abandoned nuclear facility, etc.

It's not a public repo, it's through our university, and we're not comfortable sharing access to the source code unless this got serious, which hopefully isn't either of our intentions. Obviously screenshots can be edited but we can provide those if you'd like.

Alternatively, we can send you files and renders that haven't been edited since before all this, and should have the relevant data to prove it. This is all a bit awkward tbh, if you have any suggestions then please let us know.

You're confusing a published build or something with when the page went live. I worked on this project and we started after summer last year. I don't want to argue the issue, and you shouldn't take my word for it, but if you look into it, you should be able to find a date before yours.

I wish you the best moving forward with whatever projects you end up working on.

Edit: if need be, we have git logs dating back to mid October. I'm not interested in making a stink about any of this though, it was more just an FYI

Ah, if you're not aware then that's concerning. Did the artist come up with the title too?

The game I'm referring to is called critical exposure. It was posted to itch around a month before yours, at the time it even used the same font for the title.

Edit: to clarify, you're game is quite impressive, especially for a JAM. I don't intend to make an issue out of it, just wanted to make sure you're aware. These situations can have the potential to get entire groups in trouble.

The game, its taken inspiration from another on itch, no?

This looks familiar
